Who enforces hood cleaning in Oregon
Oregon enforces the Oregon Fire Code, the state's version of the International Fire Code, and it adopts NFPA 96 for commercial kitchen exhaust. That means the cleaning interval is set by what you cook: monthly for solid fuel, quarterly for high-volume cooking, semi-annually for moderate volume, annually for low volume. Portland Fire & Rescue adds its own hood cleaning policy on top, with a required dated service label and records kept on site. Every other city and rural fire district in the state inspects to the same NFPA 96 standard through the Oregon Fire Code.
